My hat is off to you for your effort!!
Hi, Subject: Mr. G's Sucks Hi my name is Chuck Vanderbyl and
I am the owner of C.V. Vacuum Platers located in Mission, British Columbia,
Canada. We have had numerous customers send us their part to be redone
that had previously been to Mr. G's so we know all to well their quality
of work. We have a very good reputation for guaranteeing our process
and the quality of the work and would appreciate it very much if you would
add our site to your list of plastic restoration plating. Please check
out our web site which is listed below. Thanks. Subject: Plastic Chrome with guarantees Yes, we have run into the same problem back in the 80's with Mr. G's. We guarantee our work and it is much better in quality to the point that you can take windex and wipe clean and have no effect on the chrome...reason is that we use a different process that is much better in quality / longevity and look. Check us out at: Layson's Restorations
" Not only does the guy produce lousy quality, he is a bigot, to boot! " Hello there. Im in the market for some plastic re-chroming and just came across your website. I had almost the identical experience you did with ol Mr G. The Mopar armrest bases that I had hunted so hard for and that I had so carefully removed and sent to Mr Gs came back with the same kind of sandpaper scratches you got. I, too, called him up. He told me, What do you expect from a bunch of Mexicans? Shocked, I asked what he meant. He answered, You know, I got a team of Mexicans in here doing the sanding. I said I was not happy with the quality, and he told me EXACTLY the same thing he told you; to wit, send the parts back and hed do them again, but Id have to pay for the second round just like the first. Needless to say, I did not send the parts. Not only does the guy produce lousy quality, he is a bigot, to boot! Since you and I are not the only ones screwed by this guy, I suggest contacting Hemmings. They will pull the advertising of vendors who do not treat customers right. Trouble with Mr Gs, though, is he has ads all throughout every Hemmings issue, mostly for his line of fasteners. You are welcome to quote from my previous paragraph if you want to add it to the others on your site. I think Ill give American Plastic Chrome a try. Cheers, Dan Davids Don't sand the plastic! 10 years ago I used a place in California called Quick Silver. They did a very high quality job. They stressed very highly NOT to sand or do any prep work on the plastic. They said that any sanding scratches would show. They used a chemical to strip the plastic before rechroming. They told me six weeks and it was. I was very pleased with the show quality finish. Not cheap, but very very good. Consider me a long ago satisfied customer. You may want to check them out. I don't have a phone number, etc. All I remember is that they were in California. Thanks, Don Wareing "too bad I saw you site too late!!" I saw your web site about Mr. G's. AFTER I sent my dash piece down to have it replated in January of this year. I've been attempting to communicate with this "gentleman" for the last 6 weeks or so and all I seem to get out of him is all his problems. At one point I told him of your comments on the internet and he proceeded to let me know how wrong you were. I believe you should add to your page a place where people can sound off about their problems with this guy!! Not only about his lack of business savvy, but his all around attitude!! WHAT A JERK!!! Thanks, too bad I saw you site too late!! A friend of mine sent me the URL to your Mr G site.
Sorry to hear that... but you did a hell of a job on the your website.
Anyway, I am looking for a place that can strip the chrome finish and
apply new to a couple of plastic vents that are very rare so I am very
concerned with quality. Thanks for taking the time to post a warning on Mr. G's. While I have not used them, I was searching for someone who would re-chrome some plastic toy parts for me. You have saved me alot of suffering and head aches. Thankyou, Thankyou, hopefully your message will be read and headed by many people like me. Thank goodness for the internet. My best, Mike C.
